Mike Reeder, well known to Hill Country View readers for his comprehensive sports coverage, has joined the editorial staff as a reporter.

Reeder, who graduated with honors from Texas Christian University, holds a fine arts degree in radio, television and film.

He began his journalism career in Hillsboro, where he was morning deejay and news announcer at KHBR-Radio and reporter-photographer for the Hillsboro Reporter newspaper.

He then was editor in chief at the Clifton Record, where he won numerous Texas Press Association awards for his work.

Reeder then worked for television stations in Waco; Lake Charles, La.; and Lawton, Okla. He reported on politics as well as general assignments and later served as nightly anchor and executive producer of broadcasts.

In 1997, Reeder joined GOP-TV in Washington, D.C. as senior producer and anchor of the “Rising Tide” syndicated television program. He produced live special events, including live Internet coverage of the 2000 Republican convention in Philadelphia.

Reeder moved back to Texas and recently has been contributing writer for the View, covering Boerne High School varsity sports as well as providing outdoor coverage for the View.
