During the fall season Bazan library will host a number of activities for all ages. For children and parents, there is “Family Fun hour” at 5:30 p.m. on Mondays. On every other Monday, family movies are shown at 6:30 p.m.

On Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. there is story time for children ages 2 and up.

Bazan library will offer free math tutoring for children from kindergarten through 12th-grade. Tutors, from Churchill High School’s “Peer Assisted Leadership Services” (PALS), which will be at the library on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Special TAKS tutoring for fifth grade students begins on Oct. 4.

Teen activities are scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, including interactive video game; and Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock games are played on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. On Thursdays there is teen craft night, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

On Monday, Jes Latino, the “Latin Street Boss” will perform a concert featuring his own works from the barrio. The free show is from 6 to 7 p.m.

Bazan library also has free classes for adults aspiring to obtain citizenship starting on Tuesday, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The classes are primarily for adults and cover other topics, such as consumer education. The staff at Academia America can be reached at 241-2759. The instructors speak Spanish and English.

On Saturdays, Bazan has two guitar classes. The first class is in Spanish and is for beginners from noon to 2 p.m. The second class is for beginners and intermediate level students. The class is taught in English and Spanish, from 2 to 4 p.m.

On Wednesday, UCLA Professor Bill Boyle will present a film lecture entitled “The Visual Mindscape of the Screenplay.” Boyle’s presentation includes clips from such great films as “The Godfather” and “Citizen Kane.” The lecture is from 7 to 8 p.m. and will be held in Bazan’s meeting room.

On Oct. 11, the Friends of the Bazan Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Bazan library is located at 2200 W. Commerce, just off S. Nueces Street. Call Rhonda Davila or Raymond Villarreal at 225-1614.
