Friday Borders Books at The Forum at Olympia Parkway hosts a party at 10 p.m. for the release of “Brisingr,” the third book in Christopher Paolini’s “Inheritance” series. Saturday The Converse Beautification and Environmental Commission is hosting a litter pickup beginning at 7:30 a.m., assembling at the Church’s Fried Chicken parking lot at FM 78 and FM 1516. Sept. 26 The Marion FFA will hold its “Steak ‘N’ Chops” fundraiser dinner from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the Marion Middle School cafeteria. The meal, which includes a choice of either a ribeye steak or double cut pork chop, will be prepared by Next Door Catering. Cost: $12 per adult, $5 per child 11 and under. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance from any FFA member or booster member. Mark Swayze will perform from 7-9 p.m. at Windcrest United Methodist Church’s monthly coffee house/ Christian music showcase. The Randolph Area Christian Assistance Program will be the recipient of food collected in a food drive at “Oktoberfest” at 4 p.m. Oct. 18 at Triumphant Lutheran Church, 21315 Bat Cave Road, Garden Ridge.
