Schertz Animal Services

Artemis is a very friendly 3-year-old Chihuahua. He is very energetic and plays well with other dogs and kids. Artemis has a big heart for his little size. To adopt him, call 619-1550 or visit www.schertz.petfinder.com.

Help our homeless pets by donating aluminum cans and paper to our recycling fundraising program. The recycling bins have moved across the street from the shelter to the Gutierrez Xeriscape Park. All proceeds still benefit the shelter animals.

Animal Defense League

I was alone and lonely on the streets of San Antonio, abandoned by my humans, when the dog catcher snatched me and took me to the city pound. My right eye was badly hurt. I was skinny, covered with fleas and figured my days were numbered. I was on death row when a nice woman from the pound took me to the Animal Defense League. She saved my life.

ADL had to remove my eye because it was so badly infected. But hey, I’ve got a great left eye as you can see in my photo. They call me Fred. I’m a Rat Terrier mix. I weigh around 15 pounds; I am neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. I get along great with humans and other dogs.

I have been picked as the first companion animal featured in ADL’s new “Best Paw Forward” program, an initiative to showcase dogs and cats like me who are special or who have special needs. Now what I really need is a forever home. Come see me at ADL at 11300 Nacogdoches Road in San Antonio, or visit me on the web at www.adltexas.org.

Universal City Animal Shelter

Meet Pearl, is a domestic short hair female. She is around 5 years old and still has a playful spirit. She is in need of a home of her own where she can play, lie in your lap, or lay in her own bed. She would make a wonderful addition to any home who would love an affectionate cat.

If you would like to give Pearl a home, stop by the shelter at 134 Athenian Road. For details call us at 658-0700, or browse our Web site at www.universalcitytexas.com.

Homes For Pets

Ainsley and Elliott are a 3-year-old brother-and-sister duo who are very attached to each other. They were adopted from us as kittens but their owner died, and no one else in the family wanted these two wonderful cats. So we took them back and are now trying to find them a home together.

If you would like to meet them, they are both residing at The Forum shopping center Petsmart right now, at the adoption center. Please feel free to go and visit them. They would love a forever home of their own! They are spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations. Their fee as a pair is $120. Visit us at www.homesforpets.org or call 566-7776.
