Garden Ridge

Garden Ridge Police reported 21 offenses, 13 incidents, four alarms, two accidents, 14 warnings, 13 citations and no arrests during one week’s time.

Kirby

Sept. 20: 2800 block of Rod Schaffe, two subjects involved in a fight.

Sept. 18: 5000 block of Gordon Cooper, a residence was burglarized; several items were taken.

Sept. 17: 5300 block of Peppermint, a resident reported someone is using a credit card without the victim’s consent.

Sept. 15: 3700 block of Vinecrest, a laptop and camera were reported stolen.

Sept. 14: 4800 block of Swann, a subject was arrested for outstanding warrants and possession of marijuana.

Sept. 12: 5400 block of Gordon Cooper, a television was stolen from a house.

Schertz

Sept. 20: 501 FM 3009, a man reported to police that someone had burglarized his apartment and made off with his rent money while he was gone. Police said when the man returned to his apartment after being out of town for eight days, he discovered his rear patio door was unlocked and his storage closet was opened with a lantern knocked off the shelf and lying on the floor. Before he had left, the man had hid his $800 rent money in his bedroom closet between a pair of shorts. When he checked the closet, the man found his shorts messed up and the rent money gone, police said. The man said only one person knew he was going out of town and that no else had a key to the apartment. The officer checked the rear and front doors and found no signs of any forcible entry, and the officer took fingerprints from the lantern, the closet door and the door handle to the residence. Case is still under investigation.

Sept. 21: 2000 block of Crepe Myrtle Lane, an officer on patrol noticed a vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway at the intersection of Crepe Myrtle Lane and Rose Sharon Drive. As the officer approached the vehicle, he observed a man walking away from it and towards a residence, leaving the vehicle in the roadway blocking traffic. The officer talked to the driver and told him he could not leave the vehicle in the roadway because it would obstruct traffic. Police said the driver became extremely nervous, promising that he would move the vehicle. The officer conducted a background check on the man and found out he had an active warrant from Bexar County. After the vehicle was legally parked in front of a residence, the man was arrested for his active warrant and taken to jail, police said.

Sept. 22: 1300 block of Turn Creek Lane, police were called for a reported case of fraud. A man told an officer that someone he did not know had been mailing unauthorized checks with his name on it to people outside of the state. The man said he received a call from a woman in California who said she had received a check from him for $4,850. After he received the call from the woman, the man cancelled his account with his bank, police said. The man said he did not know where the checks were being forged at or how they got into someone else’s hands. Case is still under investigation.

Sept. 23: 1400 Schertz Parkway, police were called for a reported forgery. A woman told police that her income tax return check had been forged and cashed possibly by a known person, police said.

Selma

Sept. 19: 15000 I-35 north, an officer conducted a traffic stop at 8:09 p.m. on a 1977 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. When the officer made contact with the driver, a 27-year-old Austin man, he detected an odor of marijuana on the man, police said. A subsequent search, turned up two small bags of marijuana and a smoking pipe. The driver and a passenger were both cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

- 16765 Lookout Road, while working at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, an officer observed a 30-year-old female crying and screaming and a 37-year-old man was seen walking away from her at a fast pace towards the front gate, police said. The officer saw that the female had visible injuries to her right eye and blood on her lip Police said the man assaulted the woman during the argument. The man was arrested by police.

Sept. 23: 8310 Agora Parkway, police were dispatched to Border’s Bookstore for a reported theft. A customer told police that a white male entered the store, took 15 Blue Ray DVDs into a red carry basket and left without paying for it. The theft was caught on the store camera and the suspect was seen leaving in a 1999 silver Toyota 4 Runner, police said.

- 14855 I-35 north, officers were called out to Camino Ranch restaurant for a reported burglary. A 51-year-old Seguin man told police that his Ford pickup had been broken into and that a Dell laptop computer and two luggage bags had been stolen. Police said the bags were located in a wooded area near the restaurant parking lot, police said.

Sept. 24: 8200 Agora Parkway, an officer on patrol noticed a 1997 Mercury Sable in a parking lot at 12:18 a.m. The officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle and did a background check, which turned up an outstanding warrant for a fictitious inspection sticker from another county. During a subsequent search, a small bag of marijuana and hydrocodine pills were recovered. The driver was arrested for the outstanding warrant and for possession of marijuana less than two ounces and possession of a controlled substance less than 300 milligrams.

Sept. 26: 15330 block of I-35 north, officers were called out for a reported burglary of a vehicle. Police observed a broken window on a 1996 Chevy Blazer.

Universal City

Sept. 19: 300 block of Aviation Boulevard, a traffic stop resulted in an individual arrested for outstanding warrants and public intoxication.

Sept. 18: Beechwood Avenue and Oaklane Drive, several cars were vandalized and broken into in the 200 block of Oakland and 200 block of Beechwood.

Sept. 17: 1800 block of Pat Booker, charges of abandoning/endangering a child with intent to return after an officer spotted a subject outside a business and determined them to be intoxicated. The individual was arrested for public intoxication.

Sept. 16: 200 block of Kitty Hawk Road, police were dispatched to the scene of an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The charge was filed at-large against a subject who had fled the scene.

— 1200 block of Pat Booker, someone damaged and burglarized a coin-operated machine at a business.

— 500 block of Aviation Avenue, an officer was dispatched for a robbery report. A charge of aggravated kidnapping was also filed.

Sept. 15: At police headquarters, a sexual assault was reported; the crime involved purchasing/furnishing alcohol to a minor.

— 1700 block of Pat Booker, an arrest was made for disorderly conduct-language and evading arrest and detention.

Sept. 14: Loop 1604, a female was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

— 900 block of Kitty Hawk, an officer took a report of a hit-and-run collision.

Windcrest

Sept. 20: Sept. 19: 700 block of Crestway Road, an officer performed a traffic stop that ended with citations for failure to prove insurance, no driver’s license, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The vehicle was impounded.

— 700 block of Winfield Boulevard, an officer initiated a traffic stop and noticed the motorist to be very nervous. He questioned the subject, who admitted having a crack pipe and pot pipe in his pants pocket. One end of the pot pipe was packed with marijuana. The suspect was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sept. 18: 4900 block of Walzem Road, an officer stopped a motorist for speeding in a 35 mph zone. The driver was cited for no driver’s license, failure to maintain insurance and speeding.

Sept. 15: 400 block of Golfcrest Drive, a woman reported being scammed out of $25,793.94 when she was duped into a check-for-cash Money Gram scam. One of five checks, written for $4,997, was returned as having been a forged check.

Sept. 14: 7700 block of I-35, someone entered several vendor areas inside a large local marketplace after hours, by remaining in the building following closing hours.

— 400 block of Fenwick Drive, an ex-girlfriend returns to collect her things and ends up scratching the paint on the ex-boyfriend’s car and, when confronted by him, sprays him with pepper spray.

— 8800 block of Tradewind Drive, someone stole clothes from an apartment complex’s dryer.
