Paula White Here we are, only a month into the New Year. Already some of my New Year’s resolutions are starting to get fuzzy. I realize I need to get serious about if I’m going to accomplish my goals for 2007. If you’ve decided this year to be more proactive about learning new things, you now have the opportunity to sign up for some classes to help you accomplish your goal. The Boerne ACE Initiative is an integral component of the Chamber’s Business Education Council’s effort to not only help educate the workforce in Kendall County but offer other classes that might be of interest to our citizens. We have partnered with Club Ed out of Kerrville, the Boerne Public Library and BISD, for our offering of spring classes to help you expand your personal and professional interests right here in Boerne. Education is no longer limited to a single experience on our lives. “Education is a point on a continuum of lifelong learning,” says noted educator, Susan Kinsey. “Any given educational experience is a point on that continuum. So the trick in this complex environment—where work and life are mixed and people drop in and out of the education cycle—is to figure out where you are on the continuum and what educational experience would be best for you at that time.” The Boerne ACE Initiative is prepared to offer people experiences that fit many points on that continuum.” ACE offers three computer classes in the spring session: Computers for the Absolute Beginner, Using Microsoft Word Basics, and Creating Spreadsheets with Microsoft Excel. We have a total of 39 offerings for spring semester which include some very cool new classes on subjects as diverse as scrapbooking, personal health and Hill Country Wildflower workshops. You may have already received the catalog from Club Ed, a key ACE partner, or you can review the classes and sign up by logging on to www.clubed.net. So whether you are hoping to expand your professional interests or just be able to identify the many wildflowers that border our roadways, you can find your place on the lifelong learning continuum through the Boerne ACE Initiative.
