 Jewel 'Judy' C. Lewis Surrounded by her loving family, Jewel “Judy” C. Lewis returned to her Heavenly Father at her home in Boerne on Feb. 8. She was 82 years old, and was born July 9, 1924, to Seab Robert Canon and Sarah Berneice Kilough in Goose Creek, Texas. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, A. Clifford Lewis; children Terry Vogt and husband, Eddie; Anita Asher and husband, Joe; Treila Whiting and husband, Gary, and C. Dale Lewis and wife Beatrice; 16 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Daniels of Boerne; brother, Marshall Canon of Boerne; loving friend and caregiver, Monica Fernandez, and many extended family and friends from across Texas. She was a World War II bride. Cliff and Judy married in San Francisco, Calif., while he was in the U.S. Navy. They began their family in Baytown, but moved to the Hill Country in 1959 to make their new home. She was a realtor for many years. Her husband says, “She never met a stranger.” Her sense of humor and good will to others was contagious. She was an avid gardener and seamstress. She specialized in hybrid irises and daffodils. She was active in the First United Methodist Church for many years and was proud to serve as president of the Boerne PTA. Her love of children was always evident as she nurtured her family and grandchildren with country walks, family games, and Medina River campouts. Her Christian kindness and service to others was apparent to all whose lives she touched. Her presence will truly be missed.
